SERVICES & WHAT TO EXPECT
VIDEO TELEHEALTH COUNSELING
Video based counseling may be a good option for those wanting to engage in therapy but are finding that to be difficult with complicated schedules, situations that limit or prohibit their ability to meet in a traditional office setting, or difficulty with access due to location. All our clinicians are able to offer video telehealth counseling sessions to those physically residing in the state of California and have access to a quiet, confidential space with good internet connection to engage in therapy. Additionally, when space is available, Cora is able to offer Telehealth sessions to those residing in Florida. We utilize a platform that meets state and local requirements for confidentiality. In the initial consultation call or video session we will discuss whether this platform is the right fit for you and any risks to engaging in a video based counseling platform. Similar to traditional therapy settings we will meet to identify goals for therapy, frequency of session, and sessions will typically last 50-75 minutes. Phone session are also available on a case by case basis.
Please note that video based counseling services may not be appropriate for clients experiencing current suicidal or homicidal thoughts or feelings. If you are experiencing this, please call 9-1-1 or present at your nearest Emergency Room.
INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Individual therapy sessions generally take place weekly for 50 - 55 minutes. During the initial 2-3 sessions we will be asking a lot of questions about your history, goals, concerns, and strengths. We will decide together throughout the course of therapy how often to meet and for how long the therapeutic relationship will last - most often deciding to close when clients are feeling they have met their goals and can utilize skills and support systems without regular professional support. In general, most clients find they are ready to end therapy after 6-12 months and sometimes opt to continue on a less frequent basis to maintain progress and support. We will discuss and decide what is best for you given your needs and goals. At times, we may provide referrals or recommendations for other services such as psychiatry, relational therapy, or yoga/body work when I believe it may benefit and support individual therapy. All recommendations are provided as that - a recommendation - and we will continue to discuss and collaborate to identify the best options for you.
RELATIONSHIPS & FAMILIES
Relational therapy can look a lot of different ways. It may be in conjunction with individual therapy; always together, or sometimes separate; with multiple generations or with subsets of the whole family. Relational therapy can cover many concerns and needs including conflict, intimacy, co-parenting, or improving communication and connection. Similar to individual therapy, we will meet for the initial 2-3 sessions to identify goals and needs and decide together how often, how long, and who will participate. Sessions generally last 50 to 75 minutes, meeting weekly or bi-weekly. As a relational therapist, we work to provide a non-judgemental, supportive space for all who chose to enter refraining from choosing sides, blaming, or making prescriptions with safety being an utmost concern and working collaboratively to meet your goals.
